Members of CrossWay Community Church and Grace Church meet in Krasnodar

CrossWay Community Church Pilot Project

CrossWay members Burt & Marilyn Dumerton spent many years living and planting churches in Russia. They have maintained relationship with churches in Rostov and Krasnodar, and individuals in those churches have begun ministering to orphans in the local institutions.

Our intention is to ship boxes of new, good quality clothing to churches in both cities. Their congregations will deliver the clothes to the orphanages (meeting a very practical need) and at the same time, develop relationship with the children.

It has been shown that over time, visiting programs of this type have a very positive impact on the outcome for the children. Sustained relationships with people from the ‘outside’ result in measurably lower suicide and crime rates when the children leave the orphanage at age 17.

Since these relationships must be developed over time, the pilot project is designed to test whether:

1. CrossWay members have vision to support this type of ministry financially.

2. The Russian pastors in both cities can effectively oversee their visitation teams.

3. The teams can provide adequate feedback on their ministry activities until a site visit can be arranged.

The clothing for this project has already been packed and sorted, and CrossWay church members have been canvassed for their support.

Please pray for the success of this project; we dearly want to see more Canadian churches supporting these programs.
